As of 05:30 IST today, Cyclone Senyar was located near latitude 5.0°N and longitude 98.0°E, positioned approximately 100 km east of Kuta Makmur in Indonesia, 260 km west-southwest of George Town in Malaysia, 600 km east-southeast of Nancowry in the Nicobar Islands, and 740 km southeast of Car Nicobar. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), another weather system developing over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas has become a well-marked low-pressure area.
This low-pressure system was confirmed as of today, November 26, 2025, and is expected to move in a north-northwest direction while intensifying into a depression within the next 24 hours. The dual weather systems have provided the grounds for significant rainfall warnings across various regions.
The IMD has alerted for heavy rainfall expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala from November 25 through December 1. Specifically, heavy rain is forecasted for Tamil Nadu from November 25 to 30, while Kerala and Mahe are expected to experience heavy rain on November 25 and 26. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, along with Rayalaseema, will be monitored for rain from November 29 to December 1, whereas the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will continue to face heavy rains from November 26 to November 29.
Particularly intense rainfall is anticipated in Tamil Nadu from November 28 to 30, and again in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 26 and 27. Severe thunderstorms are predicted for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema, accompanied by lightning and strong wind gusts that may reach speeds of up to 60 kmph. The IMD urges residents in the affected areas to prepare for the approaching adverse weather conditions, monitoring updates and alerts closely.
