In the aftermath of the tragic car explosion at the Delhi Red Fort, where ten lives were lost and over twenty people were injured, an investigation has uncovered a concerning network of radicalization linked to doctors. Authorities have traced the origins of the implicated individuals to two Telegram groups: Farzandan-e-Darul Uloom (Deoband) and a network operated by Umar bin Khattab, a recognized member of Jaish-e-Mohammad based in Pakistan.
Dr. Umar Nabi, a pivotal figure in this inquiry, along with Imam Irfan Ahmad Wagah from Shopian, reportedly initiated their discussions within these Telegram groups. Initially, their conversations revolved around the topics of 'Kashmir’s Aazadi' and the perceived suppression of Kashmiris. However, these discussions eventually expanded to encompass global jihad and acts of retribution.
Investigators believe that the group's operatives may have met significant contacts during their travels abroad, particularly on a trip to Turkey, which is considered a critical juncture in the formation of the terror module. Following their return from Turkey, the group is thought to have broadened its reach across various regions in India. Notable members such as Dr. Muzammil took a position at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad, while Dr. Adeel was assigned to Saharanpur.
Additionally, reports suggest that other individuals within the module have been strategically placed in different states to manage recruitment and logistics for the network. Authorities are actively working to identify all individuals who had prior interactions with members of this group to gather more information.
Dr. Umar and his associates, Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen, are suspected of being part of a larger logistics network consisting of nine to ten members, including five to six doctors. These medical professionals allegedly leveraged their access to acquire materials for assembling explosives and coordinating operational activities within the network.
To further advance the investigation, a technical inquiry is being conducted to track communications related to the Red Fort explosion. Authorities are analyzing mobile tower data from the vicinity of the Red Fort to ascertain Dr. Umar’s contacts and movements between 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM on the day of the incident, leading up to the car explosion. This critical data will help in piecing together the events that transpired during that fateful day.
