Kia is set to unveil the next-generation Seltos, codenamed SP3i, on December 10, 2025, in South Korea. This eagerly anticipated SUV marks a significant development in Kia's global lineup, featuring a complete redesign of its exterior and interior, as well as new powertrain options including a strong-hybrid variant aimed at international markets. The first generation of the Kia Seltos made its debut in India back in 2019 and quickly became pivotal to Kia’s success there. Now, six years later, the redesigned model is ready to take center stage. Following the global reveal, the Seltos is expected to launch in India in 2026, continuing to solidify Kia's presence in the SUV segment. The new model will boast a bolder and more commanding design, echoing elements from larger Kia SUVs like the Telluride and Sportage. Initial spy shots from multiple locations have revealed a boxier silhouette, vertical LED DRL signatures, a unified LED light bar, and robust bumpers, giving the vehicle a more premium appearance. With increased dimensions, the 2026 Seltos will likely offer enhanced interior space and comfort, making it more competitive in the booming midsize SUV segment. The rear is also expected to sport sharper LED tail-lights and a sophisticated new tailgate design. Inside, consumers can anticipate a modern dashboard with premium materials and an array of connected features. A sleek dual-screen layout akin to that of the new Hyundai Venue will integrate dual 12.3-inch displays for both infotainment and instrumentation. Enhanced safety features, such as ADAS Level 2, 360-degree cameras, and advanced climate control, are also anticipated as part of the upgraded package. In terms of powertrains, Kia plans to retain the 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines from the current version, albeit with refinements for better efficiency. Notably, the addition of a hybrid variant, which may employ a 1.6L petrol engine paired with an electric motor, mirrors advancements seen in the Niro Hybrid, promising power outputs around 141 hp and 265 Nm combined. The anticipated introduction of a 7-speed automatic transmission for the diesel variant in India will position it as one of the leading diesel options in its category. Following its debut in South Korea, the Kia Seltos will continue to compete in India’s vibrant midsize SUV market, going head-to-head with rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the forthcoming Tata Sierra. With its innovative features, impressive safety tech, and enhanced design, the next-gen Seltos aims to reinforce Kia's strategic footing in the competitive SUV landscape.
