Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has made serious accusations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav, alleging incidents of humiliation and abuse. Following her announcement of distancing from her family and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Rohini took to social media to express her grievances. In a heartfelt post, she described being subjected to derogatory remarks and alleged that a slipper was raised against her during a confrontation with her brother. She emotionally shared her struggle with having to leave behind her elderly parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, who were left in tears.
Rohini's public statement highlighted her commitment to self-respect, stating she could not compromise her dignity despite the personal humiliations she faced. She expressed feelings of abandonment, saying she felt like an orphan after being forced to separate from her family. As she addressed her followers, she implored that no one else experience such a fate.
In a second post, Rohini reflected on her experience of donating a kidney to her father in 2022, claiming she had been disrespected regarding her act of kindness. She reported being ridiculed with comments suggesting that she had 'put a filthy kidney' into him and was accused of benefiting financially from the transplant. She countered these allegations and urged individuals with brothers or sons to consider having them assist in such medical procedures instead. Rohini commented on societal expectations concerning family and how her choices as a mother and daughter were unfairly criticized.
Rohini's statements came at a tumultuous time for the RJD, which recently faced significant electoral losses, winning only 25 of 143 seats in a recent election. This event marked another troubling chapter in the Yadav family's dynamics, which already saw an earlier rift when Lalu expelled his eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party. Tej Pratap later attempted to form his own political identity with the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), though he struggled to gain traction. The ongoing family controversies illustrate deeper cracks within the once-united political family of the RJD amid a broader political crisis.
