Alongside Umar, three other individuals—Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, Dr. Adeel Majeed Rather, and Dr. Shaheen Shahid—were also implicated in this module and are currently in custody. Dr. Shaheen Shahid has disclosed during her questioning that Umar was the most radicalized member of their group, often expressing his fervent intentions to execute multiple terrorist strikes within India. The group allegedly accumulated significant amounts of ammonium nitrate, expected to be utilized for these planned operations, over approximately two years. This shocking revelation highlights a well-organized effort to engage in acts of terror, purportedly on behalf of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM).

Investigators have reported that prior arrests of Muzammil, Adeel, and Shaheen by the Jammu and Kashmir police—coupled with collaborative efforts from authorities in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana—were crucial in unveiling the structure and objectives of this module. Although these three individuals were apprehended, Dr. Umar managed to evade capture initially and eventually emerged as a key figure in the blasted vehicle.

The investigation indicated that Dr. Umar had assembled significant explosive materials, packing them into a vehicle, likely an i20, equipped with detonators. The repercussions of the blast were devastating, with Umar's body reportedly disintegrated in the explosion.
