The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted light to moderate rain across Tamil Nadu with heavy rainfall expected in specific districts. Fishermen are warned to avoid certain maritime areas due to adverse weather. As a low-pressure area forms over the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of it developing into a cyclonic storm, particularly impacting coastal regions. Preparedness measures are being implemented in Odisha, which is expected to experience dry conditions despite the impending weather systems affecting neighboring areas.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued alerts for light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, with heavier rain anticipated in certain districts. Forecasters predict rainfall in both South Tamil Nadu and isolated areas of North Tamil Nadu, particularly over Puducherry and Karaikal, accompanied by the risk of thunderstorms and lightning. Specifically, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram districts may witness heavy rainfall in isolated spots. Fishermen are advised against venturing into several maritime areas due to challenging weather and potential danger. Certain regions will be off-limits for fishing activities, specifically:

- South Andaman Sea until November 27 - Southeast Bay of Bengal from November 25 to 28 - Gulf of Mannar and South-west Bay of Bengal, including Tamil Nadu's coasts, until November 29 - West-central Bay of Bengal along with the Andhra Pradesh coast from November 27 to 30 - Southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, and Kerala coast from November 25 to 27.

Authorities are also cautioning fishermen already at sea to return to shore promptly. Notably, an orange alert has been issued for districts including Tenkasi and Tirunelveli, where the risk of extremely heavy rainfall looms, particularly in hilly regions. Rainfall amounts are expected to heighten on November 25, particularly affecting Kanyakumari and nearby districts. The situation will further escalate on November 26, with projections indicating heavy rain in at least seven districts, impacting Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam on November 27. Orange alerts remain in effect for Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam on November 28, with the possibility of very heavy rain extending to seven northern coastal districts on November 29.

Residents in at-risk areas are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to guidance from local authorities. Suggested precautions include limiting travel, being aware of potential waterlogging and strong winds, and closely following updates from disaster management teams.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the development of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which is forecasted to strengthen into a depression near the Southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24. The system is expected to track west-northwest, with concerns that it may escalate into a cyclonic storm, while neighboring Odisha is predicted to remain dry amidst this system.

The IMD indicated the low-pressure system over the Strait of Malacca and adjacent South Andaman Sea could result in rainfall across a few coastal districts of Odisha between November 25 and 27. State officials have declared readiness to respond to any resulting emergencies, ensuring that proactive measures are in place for comprehensive management of the situation.
